Blankets for Comfort, Care, Compassion
To honor Dan’s memory I have founded DJ’s Comfort Blankets, an organization that is dedicated to providing keepsake blankets for hospice patients and their families. The goal is to bring comfort and compassion to others in Dan’s name.
Our Story
DJ’s Comfort Blankets was created in loving memory of Daniel J. Petesch and inspired by his courageous seven-year battle with lung cancer.
Dan was someone who brought comfort, kindness, laughter, and joy to the people around him. He loved music, family, friendships, and meaningful moments with others. Even during difficult times, he continued to find ways to lift peoples' spirits and to bring people together.
In early 2026, our family experienced hospice care firsthand when our father, Dave, was cared for by Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Just two months later, Dan also received care from the same hospice team during his final days. Through both experiences, I saw the incredible compassion hospice workers provided and how even the smallest gestures of comfort can bring peace to patients and families during life’s most difficult moments.
After Dan’s passing in April 2026, I wanted to honor his memory in a meaningful way that reflected the care, kindness, and comfort he shared throughout his life.
These experiences led to the creation of DJ’s Comfort Blankets.
